Welcome!

My name is Paul Baptist, and I’d like to welcome you to my Japanese blog.  I am a Japanese linguist with a background in education who has been studying Japanese for close to 20 years.

My goal with this blog is to present entertaining, easy-to-understand tutorials on how to approach the Japanese language and use it effectively.  I’m also going to work on integrating a lot of interesting cultural and linguistic bits that enhance the understanding of the language, but which often are hard to study in any depth when working on one’s own.  We’ll also include interesting pieces from Classical Japanese and various pieces of Japanese literature and popular culture along the way.

If your interests include any of the following, this blog will be of interest to you:

  • Kanji
  • Anime/Manga
  • Japanese Poetry
  • Storytelling
  • The Japanese language in general

In the meantime, why don’t you check out our first lesson on how to create sentences in Japanese?
